What a fantastic time we had at a recent Club Choice Ireland 3 night golfing break to Killiney, Near Dublin staying at the fabulous Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel. We were 2 couples travelling together from North Wales via Stena Link. We had a lovely crossing with an excellent breakfast on board the ferry. Arriving at Dublin Port we were only ½ an hours drive away from The Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel. We received a very cordial welcome from the staff and our sea view balcony room overlooking the Irish Sea was very picturesque, luxurious and extremely comfortable. We had a sumptuous meal that evening in the Dungeon Restaurant.
But we were here to play golf !!! We have played golf all over the world but we have to say Powerscourt Golf Course was way up there. It was in fantastic condition 🙂. All golf courses all over Great Britain have suffered recent drought conditions however Powerscourt Golf Course fairways were green, cut with precision and the greens were a pleasure to putt on as they were in pristine condition. The strategic placement of bunkers on the course by its architect Peter McEvoy made it a truly superb test of golf. Our second round was at Woodenbridge Golf Club where the welcome was extremely courteous a lovely course, surrounded by extremely picturesque views. The course was in great condition with very tricky greens. We enjoyed a pint of Guiness & crisps sitting on the balcony watching players coming in on the 18th hole. I have to admit we did book our break to coincide with the 30th anniversary of RIVERDANCE at The Gaiety Theatre in Dublin. What a fabulous evening that was travelling to Dublin via the Dart to take in this fabulous show.
