Welcome to part two of our chat with David Costigan, Head PGA Professional at The Island Golf Club in North County Dublin.
David gets into more depth on the unique features that make the course a true ‘shot makers’ paradise. We discuss the Back 9 and it’s many memorable holes and David drops a few names of top golfers who have played the course as part of their preparation for The Open.
We also hear out about the historic hosting, along with Portmarnock Golf Club, of the 2019 Amateur Championship and how the course fared against some of the worlds best amateur golfers.
The Island GC has long been one of the official Open qualifier courses and has played host to many a world class tour player looking to get some final prep before The Open.
In June 2019 the Amateur Championship was played across two courses, The Island GC and Portmarnock GC, and was ultimately won by Irishman James Sugrue.
